AFC

The winners of the 2008 AFC Champions League earn the right to participate in Japan. The two-legged final takes place on Wednesday 5 and 12 November respectively.

      The winner of the CAF Champions League will be known in November.

          UEFA

          Manchester United qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday 21 May 2008 after a 6-5 penalty shoot-out win over Chelsea in Moscow, following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

            CONCACAF

            Pachuca (MEX) became the first team to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2008 on Wednesday 30 April 2008 after defeating Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) 3-2 on aggregate.

              OFC

              New Zealand's Waitakere United qualified for their second successive FIFA Club World Cup by retaining their O-League title, beating Kossa of the Solomon Islands 6-3 on aggregate over two legs played out on 26 April and 11 May.

                CONMEBOL

                LDU Quito (ECU) will be the South American representative at the FIFA World Club Cup 2008. They qualified by defeating Fluminense (BRA) 3-1 on penalties after a 5-5 aggregate tie in the final of the Copa Libertadores.

                  Host Country

                  The winner of the J. League earns the right to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2008. The final fixture takes place on Saturday 6 December, although the winner could be known before that date.

                  ** If a Japanese team wins the AFC Champions League, the host representative team will be replaced by the highest placed non-Japanese team from the 2008 edition of the AFC Champions League.
